Gabriel Barbosa, a former striker for Inter Milan, is disappointed in his doping ban but is confident he will clear his name.
The 27-year-old Barbosa was found guilty of trying to rig a doping test and was given a two-year ban.
For a player who has seen some ups and downs in his career, this is a major blow.
Barbosa’s greatest achievements have come from his play in the Brazilian league. When he was still a young player for Santos, he made an impression.
Brabosa was moved to Inter as a result of his performance during that time.
At the Nerazzurri, high hopes were placed on the young Brazilian. However, he was never fully able to grasp them.
Barbosa appeared in just ten games for Inter in all competitions. During the process, he only managed one goal.
Loans to Benfica and then back to Santos were made thereafter.
Finally, Barbosa relocated to Flamengo. It was there that the former Inter striker had returned to form.
However, it appears that Barbosa is going to face yet another significant setback.
In Response to Doping Ban, Gabriel Barbosa Says, “I’ll Prove My Innocence”
“I’ve never attempted to hinder or defraud any tests,” Barbosa stated on his Instagram story.
“I’m hoping the Supreme Court will make everything clear.”
“I have always played by the rules,” writes Barbosa, “during my entire career.” “Moreover, I’ve never used any illegal drugs. “Dozens of tests have already been conducted on me. Always, they have returned negative results.
“I’m disappointed by the outcome of the trial,” writes Barbosa in reference to the two-year ban.
However, the former Inter striker says, “I will still work with the sporting authorities.” “Thought that ultimately I will demonstrate my innocence and restore the truth,”
“This is a challenging time for me”, Barbosa acknowledges.
However, I want to express my gratitude to everyone for their support.
