Chelsea defender may leave the team due to Maresca’s complicated plan

The arrival of Enzo Maresca as Chelsea head coach has changed the approach to squad selection at the Pensioners, which could affect the current players in the squad.

The Italian specialist’s plan has been revealed by The Telegraph. It is believed that Maresca favours those players who can play in several positions at once. This approach of the coach is called the “Swiss Knife Plan”.

Under this plan Maresca Chelsea want to buy defender Ricardo Calafiori, who in a defensive line of four players would take the place of the left wing-back, and in a formation with three defensive players would be the left centre-back.

This idea would leave current Chelsea left-back Ben Chilwell out of the squad, and he could be sold this summer. In addition to him, Trevoh Chalobah could leave Stamford Bridge, as well as Conor Gallagher, who is attracting interest from Tottenham and Aston Villa.
