Amorim identifies culprit in Arsenal defeat

On December 4, Rúben Amorim suffered his first loss as Manchester United manager, with the Red Devils falling 2-0 to Arsenal in London. Reflecting on the disappointing result, the Portuguese coach pinpointed a key factor behind the defeat.

Amorim believes that two days of training were simply insufficient to master set-piece plays, which Arsenal has perfected over years of practice. However, the coach is confident that his team will improve in this area with time.

Quote: “It was a tough match. We tried to impose our game, especially in the first half. We need more training. Set-pieces changed everything in this match, including the dynamics. It was very difficult against them. We tried, but we had two set-pieces and didn’t score. They did.

We must understand that years of experience in executing set-pieces work in their favor. We tried to counteract that during our two days of training. Takeaways? We are smart when we have a strategy. We find ways to press and block. Over time, we will get better. We must improve and fight for every minute,” Amorim said during the press conference.

Note: The two teams will meet again in a month’s time, this time in the third round of the FA Cup.
