Real Madrid will not permit any of its athletes to compete in the 2024 Olympics.

In a press conference alongside the French national team, Tchouameni disclosed the club’s decision.

Real Madrid has decided not to permit any of its players to compete in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. Since the Olympic Games are not a FIFA event, the clubs have the final say over whether or not their players can compete.

Playing in the Olympic Games in our nation is obviously exceptional. Although we will never be able to duplicate the experience, we are employees of Real Madrid, and we have no say in the matter if they choose to veto our attendance. It’s also common knowledge, I believe, that it’s not always a good idea to have daily disagreements with your employer. Talking about the situation, Tchouameni said, “We would have liked to participate, but as fans, we will support our country.”

The players who will also compete in the 2024 UEFA Euro had a packed summer ahead of them, it’s important to mention. Real Madrid ultimately decided to exclude its players from the Olympic Games because they felt that competing in two international tournaments during the same offseason would be too much for them.
