Atletico sanctioned by UEFA for fan misconduct

The behavior of Atlético Madrid fans has caused issues for the “Colchoneros” beyond Spain, leading to disciplinary action from UEFA as well.

Details: According to UEFA’s website, Atlético fans exhibited racist and/or discriminatory behavior during their Champions League match against Benfica (0-4). As a result, Atlético has been fined €30,000 and issued a ban on selling tickets to their fans for one European away game, with a probation period of one year.

Reminder: Atlético faces significant issues from the ultras group “Frente Atletico,” which was notably disruptive in their Madrid derby against Real. La Liga recently announced plans to file a legal case against this group, aiming to ban members involved in disturbances from attending games at the Metropolitano Stadium.
