A key player that Chelsea only signed last summer has an £85 million price tag.

Chelsea has reportedly set a staggering asking price of £85 million for England international Cole Palmer, signaling to Premier League teams that they are ready to entertain interest in the attacking midfield player.

Chelsea would probably want to receive at least twice as much money if they were to be forced to sell the midfield player after just one season because of outside Premier League interest.
The last two years have seen the Blues spend excessively on new players who have not lived up to their high expectations.

Cole Palmer has been a major success for Chelsea.

Palmer, who joined the Blues for £42.5 million from Manchester City, is the one who has stood out despite the team being surrounded by pricey additions who don’t live up to their high cost.
Palmer has been a revelation at Chelsea, making 34 appearances across all competitions this season, with 14 goals and 12 assists. He has adapted to his new role at Stamford Bridge and new club with ease.
His impressive performances in recent weeks have caught the attention of Gareth Southgate and the England camp, despite the fact that he was sidelined for the weekend’s match against the Selecao due to an injury.

Moreover, recent rumors about Palmer suggest that he is being pursued by one of the other “big six” teams.
Since the Blues are still stuck in midtable in the Premier League standings, there is a chance they will lose him after a year.

Chelsea wants to hold onto Palmer.

Given this, Palmer’s contract with the London club is set to expire in 2030, but they would like to discuss an extension with him.

The club executives claim that the young player’s value has grown since they bought him.

Stated differently, they will not entertain any offer below the £85 million mark.

If that much money were to be offered, Palmer would become Chelsea’s second-most expensive sale ever, behind Eden Hazard, if Chelsea were to accept, indicating their desire to hold onto him.
