Ferguson admits he misses coaching at Manchester United

One of the fondest memories of Manchester United fans is, of course, the era of Sir Alex Ferguson, when the team was, if not a hegemon, then a bright enough brand of English football. Nostalgia for those times is also felt by the great Scot himself.

Ferguson, who will turn 83 on 31 December, admitted that he misses coaching, namely the big matches and European finals, of which he has accumulated a lot in his 27 years at Manchester United:

‘Yes, sometimes I miss it. I think the first year after I retired I went to a European final and I said to [his late wife] Cathy, ‘That’s what I miss – the big matches, the European games’.’

And then I went to most of the European finals because I found something I could relate to, something I wanted to do every day. Because these are big events that United should always be involved in,’ – quotes Ferguson ESPN.

Recall, Sir Alex left the post of head coach of Manchester United in 2013 in the rank of 13-time champion of England and two-time winner of the Champions League.
