‘I need time’. Southgate answers whether he would take over Manchester United if offered

Manchester United is going through a challenging time lately, currently sitting in 14th place, with rumors circulating about a possible departure for Erik ten Hag.

One of the candidates to replace him was former England manager Gareth Southgate. When asked if he would take over the “Red Devils” if offered, Southgate expressed that he has dedicated many years to the Football Association and now wants a break.

Quote: “I dedicated 11 years fully to the Football Association, and I have a lot of different experiences. But I definitely won’t be coaching next year. I’m sure of that. I need to give myself time to make the right decision.

When you come out of a really big role, you need to give your body time, you need to give your mind time,” Southgate stated during a speech at the General Assembly of the European Club Association.

Earlier reports indicated that Ten Hag would be sacked if the team failed to secure wins against Porto and Aston Villa. Both matches ended in draws (3-3 and 0-0, respectively). There are doubts that the Dutch manager would see out the remainder of the season.
