Ederson, Manchester City’s primary goalkeeper, is expected to leave the team in the summer of next year because his negotiations with Al-Ittihad have already progressed further.
Should Ederson’s exit be confirmed, the team won’t look to the transfer market for a replacement. Stefan Ortega, who is currently his backup, will replace him.
When Ederson was sidelined last season due to multiple injuries, Ortega filled in admirably. Especially in the closing stages of the season, Ortega’s saves were vital and helped the Premier League title to be secured.
Stefan Ortega left Arminia Bielefeld in the summer of 2022 to sign a free transfer to Manchester City. For the English champions, he has participated in 34 games and conceded 27 goals.
Manchester City will kick off the new season with the English Super Cup match against Manchester United on August 10.
