Juventus defender Gleison Bremer’s contract has a €60 million release clause, which Manchester United is reportedly willing to pay in full because the Bianconeri regret the deal.
In the summer of 2022, the Brazil international signed a contract worth €44 million plus bonuses with Torino, the local rivals.
His agents added a €60 million release clause when he recently extended the contract to June 2028, which Juventus believed at the time would deter most suitors.
They were not, however, taking into account the Premier League, which is the economic powerhouse. As the Corriere dello Sport notes, Manchester United believes that paying €60 million for a 27-year-old Brazilian center-back is a good deal.
In addition, they are hoping that it will provide them the upper hand over Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, and Newcastle United in the bidding war.
Bremer cost €5.8 million when he transferred from Atletico Mineiro to Torino in 2018. Despite consistently ranking among the top defenders in Serie A, he has only four senior caps to his name.
Bremer is not only a reliable backup goalie but he also has a good eye for goal; in 156 Serie A games, he has scored 17 goals.
