Lewandowski Talks About Being Ready for Retirement

Barcelona forward Robert Lewandowski recently turned 36, an age that is not necessarily critical for a footballer, especially one experiencing a resurgence this season, scoring 19 goals in 17 matches for the Catalan club. Despite his strong form, the Polish striker is already contemplating life after football.

Lewandowski admitted that he is mentally prepared for the day he will no longer be a professional footballer. He emphasized that transitioning into retirement requires significant psychological readiness. However, he still feels capable of playing and shared how he plans to determine when it’s time to hang up his boots.

Quote: “One day, I will end my career. I’m ready for it. I know my life will change, and I will no longer be Robert Lewandowski the footballer. But everything I’ve done and achieved will stay with me. I’ll move into a different life, but I’ll remain the same person. If you’re mentally prepared for retirement, starting a new life won’t be a problem.

Every goal gives me more strength. I know my career will end in two or three years. But only I will decide when it’s over. The day I wake up and feel I don’t want to go to training will be the first signal to consider retirement,” Lewandowski told Forbes.

Reminder: Recently, the 36 year old striker missed matches for Poland, and without their leader, the national team was relegated to League B in the Nations League.
