Lyon have suspended two African football stars from the first team. What did they do?

Lyon has had an uncertain start to the new Ligue 1 season, and now reports suggest that the atmosphere within the team is far from ideal.

Two Lyon players have been suspended from the first team for disciplinary reasons. The players in question are Nigerian forward Gift Orban and star Ivorian winger Wilfried Zaha.

The decision was made after both players refused to train with teammates who hadn’t played regularly, and those who didn’t participate in the Europa League match against Rangers.

However, the pair still have a chance to make amends and return to the first team.

Zaha, who is on loan at Lyon from Galatasaray, has only featured in two matches so far. If his attitude doesn’t improve, Lyon is planning to terminate his loan in January.

Gift Orban joined Lyon in the winter from Gent for €14 million. He has scored two goals in three Ligue 1 appearances this season.

After seven rounds, Lyon sits in eighth place in the standings with 10 points.

Reminder: Yesterday, Ligue 1 officially unveiled its new trophy and medals.
