Preview: Liverpool vs Bologna

One of the second-round fixtures of the Champions League group stage will take place Today, October 2nd, at Anfield, where Liverpool will host Italy’s Bologna.

The Reds are gradually finding their rhythm under their new manager, and have now secured four consecutive victories. In the Champions League opener, Liverpool convincingly defeated AC Milan at the San Siro, claiming a 3-1 win. Following this, they easily brushed aside Bournemouth in the Premier League (3-0) and West Ham in the League Cup (5-1).

Over the weekend, the Merseyside club visited Wolverhampton and edged out the Wolves 2-1. Liverpool took the lead with a goal from Konaté right before halftime, but the hosts equalized soon after the break. Ultimately, Salah’s penalty sealed the victory for Liverpool. After six rounds, Liverpool sits atop the Premier League table, one point ahead of Manchester City.

Bologna

The Rossoblù have had a shaky start to their Serie A campaign. After six matches, Bologna sits in 13th place with just seven points. Vincenzo Italiano’s side has managed only one victory so far, a 2-1 away win over Monza two weeks ago.

Over the weekend, Bologna hosted Atalanta and played out a 1-1 draw, with the visitors equalizing in the 90th minute. In their opening Champions League match, Bologna faced Shakhtar Donetsk at home but couldn’t break down the Ukrainian champions, settling for a 0-0 draw. The visitors even missed a penalty early in the match.
