Liverpool have accepted that Trent will not renew his contract and will join Real Madrid

Trent Alexander-Arnold is one of three key Liverpool players whose contracts are set to expire in the summer of 2025, and it appears that the Reds’ academy product may be playing for another club next season.

Liverpool’s management has come to terms with the fact that Alexander-Arnold is unlikely to renew his contract and is expected to leave the club as a free agent.

His next destination is likely to be Real Madrid, who view the English right-back as the perfect replacement for Dani Carvajal. However, signing Trent during the winter transfer window is not an option, with a move possible only in the summer.

As a result, it is expected that Real Madrid will not seek a winter replacement for the injured Carvajal and will rely fully on Lucas Vázquez.

Reminder: Alongside Trent Alexander-Arnold, the contracts of Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah also expire in the summer of 2025.
