The legendary Luka Modrić will continue his career at Real Madrid.
The Spanish champions officially announced the extension of the 38-year-old midfielder’s contract until the summer of 2025. Initially, it was expected that 2024 would be Modrić’s final year at Real Madrid, but his performance convinced the club that he can still be an important player for the team.
Modrić turned down offers from the USA and Saudi Arabia to stay at Real Madrid and agreed to a significant pay cut.
Additionally, Real Madrid officially announced that Modrić will be the new team captain following Nacho Fernández’s departure.
Modrić has been with Real Madrid since the summer of 2012. During his time with the “Blancos,” he has scored 39 goals and provided 86 assists in 534 matches. With Real Madrid, Modrić has won the Champions League six times and the Spanish Championship four times.
