The problem hasn’t gone away. Barcelona cannot register almost half of their main squad

Before the start of the new season, Barcelona has once again faced an old problem. Due to high wage bills and other financial difficulties, the club is unable to include almost half of its main squad in the registration for the new season.

Barcelona cannot register 9 out of the 25 players who were in the starting lineup of the team last season. These issues arose after the club exceeded the salary expenditure limit by 130 million euros.

Some academy graduates of the club, such as Lamine Yamal, Pau Cubarsí, Hector Fort, and Alejandro Balde, have not yet undergone the formal registration procedure. Additionally, Barcelona has disagreements regarding the contract with Gavi, which they are trying to resolve in court.

If Barcelona extends contracts with Sergi Roberto and Marcos Alonso, they will not be able to properly register them for the next season. Joao Cancelo and Joao Felix are at the club on loan, and if the club decides to keep them, they will need to be registered again. The situation with salaries will also worsen with the return from loan spells of Ansu Fati, Clement Lenglet, Sergino Dest, and Eric Garcia.
